Jaunt ("the app", "we", "us") is a personal travel-tracking app that helps you organise trips, bookings, and budgets. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and your choices. We aim to collect as little as possible.

1. What we collect

• Account information — the email and password you sign in with. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and stored hashed; we never see your plain-text password.
• Content you create — trips, destinations, segments, dates, notes, budgets, expenses, and your profile name / home base.
• Booking photos and files — when you add a photo or document, the image is used to auto-fill booking details (see §3) and the file reference is saved with your trip.
• Profile photo — if you choose to set one.

We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, location data, or contacts, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

2. How we use your data

• To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
• To store and sync your trips and settings across your devices.
• To read booking details from photos you choose to add (auto-fill).
• To convert foreign-currency prices to EUR for your budget totals.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Photo / document processing (AI auto-fill)

When you add a booking photo or document, the image is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing server and then to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI model), which reads the text in the image and returns structured booking details (such as dates, a confirmation number, and a summary).

• Our processing server does not store the images or the extracted text — it processes the request and returns the result to your device.
• Anthropic processes the image to provide this feature and does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
• Using AI auto-fill is optional — you can type or paste booking details manually.

4. Where your data is stored

• Trips, settings and account data are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, protected by per-user access rules so only your account can read your data. Data is encrypted in transit.
• Our processing server is hosted on Fly.io and holds no personal data at rest.
• Currency rates are fetched from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter API; no personal data is sent for this.

5. Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Account → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your trips, settings, and associated data from our database. Locally stored data is removed when you delete the app.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/EEA GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or contact us.

7. Children

Jaunt is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for data in transit and rely on our providers' security controls for data at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
